I’ll try to be a little more brief with Crosspoint. Practice makes perfect.
This was the 2nd week with the new T5, and it has exceeded my expectations. I have been trying to find a way to make an electric guitar play like an acoustic guitar for a couple of years now. I’ve tried to find a great clean tone and I’ve tried effect simulators to no avail. Taylor has uncovered the Holy Grail! That said on with the worship set.
Crosspoint – 3/25/2007
Let The Praises Ring
All The Freed
Welcome/Announcements/Video
Because Of Your Love
My Savior Lives
Salvation Is Here (chorus)
Hallelujah (Your Love Is Amazing)
Message: “Love Your Neighbor”
Seriously, all pride aside, the whole set stinking ROCKED! The band was pumped and they delivered. Bottom line – people got excited and God got worshipped. We actually got some pretty decent audio recorded from the board and I recorded video from the back of the sanctuary this week so if I’ve got time I’ll try to put something up this week.
We introduced Let The Praises Ring last week and it was a rousing success. It got the students engaged and excited to worship. So we brought it back this week to open and then went into All The Freed. Lots of energy and celebrating.
After Crosspoint Mission Trip video, we did Because Of Your Love which always does well. They know it and sing out. Next, I decided to introduce a new song. We taught and lead My Savior Lives the new song from New Life Worship. Believe it or not I discovered this song on KAVX Sunday morning praise and worship. I know I was shocked too. This song is much like the high energy stuff that the Desperation Band is putting out and is also similar to some of the fist pumping tunes coming from Hillsongs United. I introduced this song to the band Sunday afternoon and they took it and ran. New songs are often hit or miss. This one was an instantaneous hit and a keeper. The students were in it and worshipping from the beginning. Then we sang a couple of choruses of Salvation Is Here and then into Hallelujah (Your Love Is Amazing). We did this similar to the new version on Brenton Brown’s Everlasting God CD. With a slight change to the chord progresion and the melody, it is not quite the same old played out version that we are all used to. We wrapped up with another chorus of My Savior Lives and then Kyle came to preach.
I missed Kyle’s message this week because I had to go home early to help Kelly with the kids. They were both not going to sleep and Aidan was screaming. Today we found out he has another ear infection. At least there’s a reasonable excuse.
Next week’s Crosspoint is going to be busy. Since we are off for Easter, we are doing an Easter message next week and doing a lot more music. Should be fun.
